Miss Leah Myrle Painter, daughter of Mrs. Jay C. Painter of near Winterset, died at the Winterset hospital on December 20, following an operation for appendicitis. She was 20 years old.
Miss Painter was born in Cass county on December 7, 1914. When 2 years old she moved with her parents to Madison county, which since has been her home. She attended the Winterset schools, graduating from high school with the class of 1934. She was a member of the Church of Christ.
The death of Jay Painter, the girl's father, occurred in 1931. She is survived by her mother, and a sister, Maxine in the immediate family.
The funeral was held Sunday from Ramsey-Richards funeral home in charge of the Rev. H. L. Olmstead of the Church of Christ. Burial was made at Lewis, Iowa.

Services for Leah Myrle Painter, 20, who died suddenly Friday morning at the Winterset hospital were held at 9 a. m. Sunday at the Ramsey-Richards funeral home with the Rev. H. L. Olmstead, pastor of the Church of Christ, in charge. Burial was at Lewis, Iowa.
Miss Painter was operated on about two weeks ago for appendicitis. She was recovering satisfactorily and was to have been dismissed from the hospital in a day or two. A blood clot was given as the cause of her death.
She was the daughter of Jay C. and Grace Painter and was born in Bear Grove township, Cass county, December 7, 1914. The family moved to Madison county in 1916 and she was graduated from the Winterset high school in 1934. Her father died April 4, 1931. Surviving are her mother, a sister, Maxine, at home, her grandparents Mr. and Mrs. B. B. Thomason of Atlantic, and other relatives.
