Services Held For Rev. R. A. Owens

Reverend Robert A. Owens, 63, died suddenly Friday morning, January 27th at the Leesville, Louisiana General Hospital. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. at Larson Funeral Home in Rock Island, Ill., Tuesday with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery, Rock Island.

Rev. Owens was born July 18, 1914 at Burlington, Iowa the son of Arthur and Mable Schubb Owens. He was married to Kathleen Bealer in Rock Island, May 21, 1936. He attended Texas Christian University, Fort Worth, Texas, where he received his Bachelor of Divinity degree.

Rev. Owens served three churches in Texas and two in Iowa, serving in the Winterset First Christian Church from 1958 to 1964 and in the Christian Church in Burlington before moving to Texas. He was serving in the First Christian in Leesville at the time of this death.

He is survived by his wife, Kathleen, a son, John of Overland Park, Kansas, a daughter Mrs. Dick (Rose Ann) Messersmith of Williford, Pennsylvania, five grandsons and a brother Arthur of Davenport.
