John E. Ott, 81, of St. Charles died Aug. 14, 2004 at his home.

Graveside services were held Thursday, Aug. 19 at the Carson Valley Cemetery in Duncansville, Pa. No services were held locally.

John Ott was born Jan. 23, 1923 in Hollidaysburg, Pa., the son of Harry and Christine (Ott) Bancroft. His marriage to Helen Marie Shoenfelt took place May 17, 1946. He was a United States Air Force veteran, serving as a member of the 8th Air Force 303 Bomb Group during World War II. Before retiring, John had been employed as an accountant. He had been a resident of St. Charles since 1991.

He was preceded in death by his wife and a son, Joseph H. Ott.

He is survived by one daughter, Nancy Mellott of Bedford, Pa.; two sons, John C. Ott of Ft. Smith, Ark., and Mark Ott of Ackworth; and five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were handled by Liebegott-Brown Funeral Home in Duncansville, Pa. Arrangements in Iowa were handled by Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset.
