James Berkson Oppenheimer, 69, Winterset, died Dec. 21 at the Winterset Care Center North where he resided. Private memorial services will be held at a later date and his body is being donated to medical science.
Mr. Oppenheimer was born in St. Louis, Mo., on Sept. 4, 1916, the son of Henry and Elsie Berkson Oppenheimer. He was a ready-to-wear buyer for Younker Brothers in Des Moines for 30 years and had his own clothing shop at one time in St. Charles. He was a veteran of the Army and had lived in Winterset for the past two years.
Survivors include a son, John of Lafayette, La.; daughters, Judy Ann Lousberry of Eagle, Mich., and Nancy Jane Swartzendruber of West Des Moines; and a brother, Dr. Henry Oppenheimer of St. Louis, Mo.
