Was Rural Mail Carrier at Winterset; Former Game Warden Here
James W. O'Hara, a Winterset rural mail carrier for 19 years and a former district Conservation officer here, died last Thursday, March 3, at a Des Moines hospital. He was 62 years of age.
Mr. O'Hara, whose home was in Patterson, had been a Madison county resident for about 25 years. He was a native of Moulton, and lived in Boone and Des Moines before coming to Winterset as district game warden for the Conservation commission. He became a rural mail carrier about 20 years ago, and had served Route 3 for many years.
A veteran of World War I, he was a member of Green-Rogers post of the American Legion at Winterset, and the 40 and 8 at Boone. He was also affiliated with the Masonic lodge here and the Des Moines consistory.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Fay O'Hara of Patterson; two brothers, Roy O'Hara of New Rochelle, N.Y., and Wilfred O'Hara of Beaumont, Tex.; and a sister, Mrs. Genevieve Siler of Centerville.
Funeral services were held Saturday from the Hamilton Funeral home in Des Moines, with burial made in the Masonic cemetery there.
