DEATH OF NICHOLAS BIESEL

Nicholas Biesel passed away at his home near De Soto, Saturday, November 19th. Funeral services were conducted at the De Soto Methodist church on Tuesday, November 22nd at 2 o'clock, by the Rev. E. J. Laird.

Mr. Biesel is survived by his wife and three children, Fred, George and Mary, and one brother, Charles Biesel of Van Meter and a sister, Emma Sheiter of Germany.

Mr. Biesel was born at Melchelsburg, Germany, January 17, 1874, the son of John and Mary Biesel. He serviced in the German army from 1894 to 1896, in the 7th infantry regiment No. 69.

When 24 years of age he came to Van Meter where he made his home with his brother. He was first employed in a coal mine, later taking up farming.

In 1920 he bought the farm south of De Soto where he resided until his death. In 1903 he was married to Lena Leppia. They were the parents of three children.

MORTUARY

Nicholas Biesel was born in Melckelsburg, Germany, January 17, 1874 and died at his home south of De Soto Saturday, November 19, 1932, at the age of 58 years, 10 months and 2 days.

At the age of fourteen years he was confirmed in the Catholic church. He served in the German army from 1894 to 1896 with the 7th Infantry regiment No. 69. In the year of 1898 at the age of 24 years he came to Van Meter, to lived with his brother Charles Biesel. He first took up coal mining later started to farm with his brother Charles.

In the year 1902 he bought land south of De Soto, where he resided until death. On the 7th day of March 1902, he was united in marriage to Miss Lena Leppia. To this union were born 3 children, Fred C., George A. and Mary L. Biesel.

He leaves to mourn his death his wife, two sons and one daughter, a brother Charles of Van Meter, and a sister Emma Sheiter of Germany.

Funeral services were held at the Methodist church in De Soto Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by the Rev. E. J. Laird and his remains being laid to rest at the De Soto cemetery.
