Wednesday, May 6, 1953MAURICE NUNAN DIED ON TUESDAY - Death Ends 21 Years of Ill Health for Winterset Resident
Maurice Nunan of Winterset died at his home here Tuesday evening, following a critical illness of several weeks. He was 65 years of age and had been in an invalid for more than 20 years.
Mr. Nunan was born in Adair county, near Stuart, a son of John and Mary Nunan. The family came to Madison county when he was a boy, and his early life was spent on a farm in Douglas township.
He was married in 1911, to Margaret Cowan. They moved to Casper, Wyo., in 1907 and spent several years there and in Kansas before returning here to operate the home farm in Douglas township.
In 1916, Mr. Nunan went into the drug business in Winterset, continuing in that for several years. He suffered a stroke in 1932 and had been an invalid for the last 21 years.
He is survived by his wife; two brothers, Will Nunan of Edina, Mo., and John Nunan of Oskaloosa; two sisters, Ella and Kathryn Nunan of Winterset.
Funeral arrangements were not definite as the Madisonian went to press, but the services probably will be held Friday morning from St. Joseph's Catholic church in Winterset. Burial will be made in the Winterset cemetery.
