Rites Held For H. Niendorf

Herman Ferdinand Niendorf, son of Lundvig and Wilhelmina Brase Niendorf, was born on September 1, 1895, in Jefferson Township of Madison County and died Tuesday, April 29, at the age of 84 years. His death occurred in Medicenter in Des Moines.

He was baptized in infancy in Trinity Lutheran Church, rural Van Meter, where he was confirmed in 1908. He was a lifelong member of the congregation.

On December 12, 1917, he married Mary Josephine Manders, the ceremony taking place in the Trinity Lutheran parsonage.

Mr. Niendorf lived in Jefferson Township all his life and farmed there since 1917.

He served seven years as a member of the Board of the Federal Land Bank.

During the last few years he was in failing health. He was hospitalized since January 2nd.

Preceding him in death were his parents, three brothers, and six sisters.

He is survived by his wife; his son William and wife, Vera, of Urbandale; one grandson, and two granddaughters.

Funeral services were held May 3 from Trinity Lutheran Church, with Pastor E. A. Breiholz officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Herman F. Niendorf, third son of Ludvig and Wilhelmina Brase Niendorf was born September 1, 1895 in Jefferson Township, Madison County, Iowa, where he lived all of his life. He passed away on April 29, at the age of 84 years and four months, after a 4 ˝ month hospitalization.

He was baptized in infancy in the Trinity Lutheran Church and was confirmed in that faith in 1908. He remained a faithful member until his death.

He was married to Mari Josephine Manders on December 12, 1917 at the Trinity Lutheran parsonage.

Herman was a member of the Board of Directors for the Omaha Land Bank for seven years, and was road maintenance man for Jefferson Township, section 17 for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and six sisters. He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife Mari Josephine, one son William G. and wife Vera A. of Des Moines, one grandson Dennis R. Niendorf, wife Janet and daughters Melissa and Nicole Niendorf of Indianapolis, Indiana, many relatives and a host of friends.

Herman was a home person, a kind person, always putting the welfare of others ahead of his own needs.

Herman’s funeral services were held at Trinity Lutheran Church Saturday forenoon, May 3 with interment in the cemetery there near his parents and other members of his family. Pastor E. A. Breiholz officiated the services.

Pall bearers were: Pete Lienemann, Harold Jensen, Bill Radke, Roy Kratz and Don Fisher. Organist was Mrs. Celest Peterson with the congregation singing his favorite hymns.

Luncheon was served to a large group by the Trinity Lutheran Ladies Aid.
