October 20, 1998Arthur M. Wright, 81, of Winterset died of cancer Tuesday at home. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Collins Funeral Home in Winterset. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery in Madison County.
A lifelong Madison County resident, Mr. Wright was a retired farmer and a member of the DeSoto school board, Badger Creek Conservation Club and Fairview Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Helen; a son, John, and a daughter, Marcia Sutherland, both of Winterset; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Page 6Arthur Melvin Wright, 81, of Winterset died of cancer October 20, 1998 at his home. Memorial services were held October 22 at Collins Funeral Home in Winterset. Pastor Jon Gaul officiated the service and burial followed at the Fairview Cemetery in Madison County.
He was born October 17, 1917 in Madison County to Marion W. And Blanche (Wynkoop) Wright. He was married to Helen Mae Haines on June 10, 1939 in Greenfield. He was a mechanic for International Harvester and a driver for Mobile Oil before taking up farming full-time. He was a lifetime resident of Madison County and a graduate of De Soto High School in 1935. He served on the De Soto school board, was a member of the Badger Creek Conservation Club and the Fairview Methodist Church.
He was proceeded in death by his parents and a brother. Surviving relatives include his wife, one son, John Wright of Winterset; one daughter, Marcia Sutherland and husband, Larry Kooker of Winterset; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
