Friday, December 19, 1997Wendell "Jim" Brown, Jr., 61, of Earlham died of complications of diabetes Tuesday at Iowa Methodist Medical Center. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at McLaren's Funeral Chapel in West Des Moines. Burial will be at McDonald Chase Cemetery in Winterset.
Mr. Brown, the owner and operator of Brown and Brown Inc., was born in Des Moines and lived in Earlham most of his life. He was a member of Valley United Methodist Church, Waveland Park Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, and the board of Bidwell Riverside Center. He also belonged to the Mid-Iowa Council of Boy Scouts of America, where he held various district positions and received the Silver Beaver in 1992 and Order of the Arrow in 1981.
He is survived by his wife, Jean; two daughters, Heather Frenette of Mesa, Ariz., and Linda Enerson of Johnston; a son, William of Charlotte, N.C.; his mother, Vivian Brown of West Des Moines; a sister, Beverly Brown-Riedel of Carbondale, Ill.; a brother, Loren Brown of West Des Moines; and two grandchildren.
