Mary Elizabeth Stauffer was born in Madison county, Iowa, and died on March 4, 1914, aged 53 years, 10 months and 12 days. She was married to Fremont Young, March 14, 1882. To this union five children were born; three sons and two daughters: Minnie, now Mrs. E. D. Roy; Ernest J., Elmer W., John C. and Jessie, dying in infancy. In 1883, she moved with her husband to Dakota, where she lived for 11 years, returning to Iowa in 1894.
Besides her husband and children, she leaves an aged father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Jos. Stauffer, five sisters, Mrs. Florence Bauer of Stuart, Dr. Jessie V. Smith of Winterset, Mrs. Willa Boyles of Denver, Colo., Mrs. Joie Leech of Oklahoma, Mrs. Clyde Reynolds of Des Moines; two brothers, Jacob of Texas and James of Waterloo. She united with the church under the preaching of Rev. Bird, and has lived a quiet christian life, greatly devoted to her family.
Funeral services were held at the home, March 6th, conducted by Rev. L. F. Davis. Interment in Rock City cemetery.
