Mr. Olson was a retired teacher. Born in Earlham, Iowa, he moved to Leesburg in 1994.
He was a member of Morrison United Methodist Church. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.
Survivors: wife, Lois E.; daughter, Gwendolyn A. Mitzel, Longwood; son, Larry E., Gales Ferry, Conn.; sister, Gladys Beaman, Winterset, Iowa; four grandchildren.

Wednesday, October 11, 1995Lawrence Elliot Olson, 87, of Lake Port Square, Fla., died Sept. 23, 1995. Memorial services were held Sept. 26 at Morrison United Methodist Church in Leesburg, Fla. with the Rev. Pamela Feeser-Lynn officiating.
He was born near Earlham on Sept. 7, 1908, to Blanche (Bowlsby) and Harry Olson. He was a 1925 Winterset graduate and received degrees from Drake University and the University of Iowa. He served in the Navy as a lieutenant during W.W.II.
He married Lois E. Poitevin on July 18, 1941. He was a teacher in Minn., Iowa and New York before retiring in 1972.
He was instrumental in establishing the Port Washington (N.Y.) Teachers Credit Union and served on the Teachers' Salary Committee. He was also active in his church serving as trustee, treasurer and usher.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter.
Surviving relatives include his wife; a daughter, Gwendolyn Mitzel of Florida; a son, Larry E. Olson of Conn.; a sister, Gladys Beaman of Winterset; and four grandchildren.
