VERONICA BELL, Prole

Clara Veronica Bell, 84, of Prole died Nov. 8, 2006, at Mercy Hospice in Johnston.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday, Nov. 13, at the Church of the Assumption in Churchville. Burial was at Calvary Cemetery in Churchville.

Veronica Bell was born April 26, 1922, in Churchville to Joseph and Julia (Waldron) Harkin. Her marriage to Joseph Bell took place Oct. 19, 1944, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Cumming. Veronica was a homemaker her entire life and a member of the Church of the Assumption, where she was active in the Altar and Rosary Society.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter, Catherine M. Noga; and five brothers, Joseph, John, Paul “Pete”, Edward and Cyril Harkin.

She is survived by four daughters, Loretta Foley of Winterset and Therese Eldred, Lucille White and Barbara Shutt, all of Grimes; four sons, Joseph Bell of Cascade, Thomas Bell of Norwalk, and Patrick Bell and Robert Bell, both of St. Charles; a brother, James Harkin of West Des Moines; two sisters, Martina Carroll and Honora Kirvin, both of Des Moines; and 22 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Church of the Assumption.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset
