Gordon A. Lewis, 77, of Afton died January 19, 1994 at the Afton Care Center. Services were held January 22 at the Stroud-Lindsay Golden Rule Funeral Homes in Afton with the Reverend Thomas C. Shinkle officiating. Burial was at the Lorimor Cemetery in Lorimor.
He was born April 12, 1916 in Adair County to Verne T. and Margaret (Crist) Lewis. He married Waunita Carter on November 12, 1936 in Creston. He was a long-time resident and farmer in Madison and Union counties before moving to Afton.
He was preceded in death by one great-granddaughter and two sisters.
Surviving relatives include his wife; a daughter, Janice Warren and husband, Charles of Afton; a son, Bill Lewis and wife, Carolyn of Blue Springs, MO; two sisters, Delpha Wegner, Phoenix, AZ and Betty Jean Barclay of Scottsdale, AZ; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren.
A memorial is being established in his name.
