Commodore Litchfield, Ames

Commodore Fillmore Litchfield, 94, of Ames, died Nov. 12, 1994 of pneumonia at the Riverside Manor in Ames. Funeral services were Nov. 15 at Stevens Memorial Chapel with burial at the Ames Municipal Cemetery.

He was born Sept. 9, 1900 in Anderson, Mo., to Charlie and Eveline Litchfield. He married Lucille Rutter on Nov. 22, 1927 in Anderson, Mo. He lived in Ames most of his life and was a self-employed carpenter.

He was preceded in death by his wife; two brothers; two sisters; one son; and three daughters.

Surviving relatives include four daughters, Lucille Keeton of Omaha, Neb., Betty Corbin of Winterset, Eleanor Coleman of Des Moines, and Eveline Copenhaver of Shelby, Mont.; four sons, Commodore T. Litchfield of Ames, George Litchfield of Charles City, Jack Litchfield of Clarksville, Tenn., and Donald Litchfield of West Covina, Calif.; 25 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.
