ZELPHA SPARKS, St. Charles

Zelpha Ellen Sparks, 88, of St. Charles, died July 20, 1994 at the Kavanaugh House in Des Moines. Funeral services were July 23, 1994 at the St. Charles Parish Church. The Rev. Ed Poston officiated with burial at Maple Hill Cemetery in Osceola.

She was born Oct. 2, 1905 in Truro to Fred and Rosa (Foreman) Bonney. She married Romie Owen Sparks on January 24, 1924 in Des Moines. She was a housewife and lived in St. Charles since 1946. She was a past Matron of Chapter 174 of the Order of the Eastern Star and a member of the St. Charles Parish Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, one son, one granddaughter, one brother, an infant brother, and one sister.

Surviving relatives include three sons, Robert Owen Sparks of Big Springs, Neb., Dale C. Sparks and wife Betty of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Ronald William Sparks and wife Nadine of Des Moines; one daughter, Joyce C. Lathrum and husband Wayne of Johnston; one brother, Floyd Bonney of Paonia, Col.; one sister, Edca Floyd of Julesburg, Colo.; three half brothers, Rev. L. W. Sawhill of Lincoln, Nebr., Richard Diemer of Minden, and Edward Diemer of Des Moines and 23 great-grandchildren.
