DR. CLARE VIOLET DEAD

Was Attacked With Bright's Disease While Practicing in Chicago

Dr. Clare Violet died at a hospital in California on last Saturday. The announcement was a sad shock to many of his friends, but the serious condition of his health was made known to his sister here, and a few intimate friends some months ago. He was attacked with Bright's disease last June, and went to California, hoping that chage of climate and rest would prove beneficial. In many respects, his death is unusually sad. He was a young man who had worked hard to fit himself for life's work, and had a bright future before him.

Two years ago, he graduated from the Northwestern medical college at Chicago and since that time had been engaged in the practice of medicine.

He came to Winterset when a boy, moving here from Afton with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. M. Violet, who have both since passed away. His sister, Miss Anna Violet, is the only remaining member of the family. To her, the fullest measure of sympathy will be extended in the loss of a devoted brother.

Dr. Claire Violet Dead

Dr. Claire Violet, of Chicago, died Sunday morning in Cucamonga, California, where he went in August. The new was conveyed to his friends in Winterset in a telegram from Dr. A. L. Weber, his college roommate, to Miss Anna Violet. The body will arrive in Winterset Saturday, but the time of holding the funeral is not known.

Dr. Violet was taken sick about a year ago with Bright’s disease and steadily grew worse. In August he was persuaded to go to California by his old college friends in hopes that his condition would improve. A telegram Thursday stated that he was steadily growing worse and left little hope for recovery.

Dr. Violet was a graduate of the Winterset high school and the Chicago Medical college. After graduating he started to practice in Chicago and early met with success. He was a tireless worker. His ambition to succeed induced him to overwork and it is believed that overwork was largely the cause of his breaking down.

He was a young man of much ability and one of the brightest young men the city ever sent out. He was rapidly winning recognition in Chicago as one of its best physicians when his health failed.

His sister, Miss Anna Violet, alone survives him, his father having died a few years ago, and his mother but recently
