Mrs. Martha Violet
Martha Leech Violet died at her home, Sunday, March 8th, after several years of invalidism. She was a native of Ohio, but came to this city in 1868, which has been her home with the exception of fifteen years residence in Afton.
She was married to G. M. Violet in 1881, his death occurring in 1906.
Mrs. Violet was a member of the U. P. church until her removal to Afton, and since that time has been affiliated with the Presbyterian church.
Mr. Corkey conducted the funeral services at the residence on Tuesday afternoon. Mrs. Violet leaves two children, Miss Anna and Dr. Claire Violet of Chicago besides two sisters and two brothers.

Mrs. Martha Violet died at her home in the west part of the city Sunday, The funeral occurred Tuesday afternoon, Dr, Corkey her pastor officiating.
Mrs. Violet belonged to one of the old Madison county families, her parents being Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Leech. She married George M. Violet in 1881. Three children were born to them, Frank who died in infancy, Dr. Claire Violet, of Chicago, and Miss Anna Violet, of Winterset. Mrs. Violet had been totally blind for the past eight years.
Dr. Violet came to see her at the close of the week and was on his way back to Chicago Saturday when his mother died. He came back that evening. Mrs. Violet, whose husband died in 1906, was widely known in Madison county and her death is mourned by a wide circle of acquaintances.
