Louise Shafar, 79, died November 22, 1993 at the Greater Community Hospital in Creston. Funeral services were held at Coen-Beaty Funeral Home on November 24, 1993 with the Rev. Thomas Woodin officiating. Burial was at the Graceland Cemetery in Creston.

She was born December 24, 1913 in Winterset to Erwin Joe and Henrietta Louise (Schoen) Alexander. She married Alfred V. Shafar on October 1, 1941 in Fremont, Nebraska. She was a graduate of Winterset High School and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Creston, and the Eastern Star-Grand Electa for the State of Iowa in 1967, Past Matrons Club.

Surviving relatives include her husband; three sisters, Lenore Lineweaver of Winterset, Roberta Estell of West Des Moines and Trudy Oldham of Windsor Heights; one brother, Joe Alexander of Winterset; one son, Richard "Jackie" Shafar of Creston; and one granddaughter.
