Wednesday, July 7, 1993Nathan Dee Sparks, 16, died of pneumonia June 29, 1993 in his home. A funeral mass was held July 2 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Frank Palmer officiating. Burial was at Winterset Cemetery.
Nathan was born October 29, 1976 to James and Marcia (Gilmore) Sparks in Winterset. He had completed his sophomore year at Winterset High School and worked part-time at McDonalds in Des Moines. He was a member of the WHS Chamber Choir, the Notable Jazzes, band and jazz band. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Surviving relatives include his parents of Winterset; three brothers, Oliver, Benjamin and Ian, and a sister, Katie, all at home; and his grandparents, Ralph and Merna Gilmore of Aledo, Ill., and Olivia Sparks of LeMars.
