Wednesday, June 7, 2000Charles M. McFarlin, 76, of Clinton, Mo., died of cancer Monday at home. Survices will be at 11 a.m. today at Vansant-Mills Funeral Chapel in Clinton. Cremation will follow the services. Burial of the cremains will be at a later date at Winterset Cemetery in Winterset.
Mr. McFarlin was born in Dexter and had lived in the Winterset and Van Meter areas before moving to Clinton 10 years ago. He had been a sheet-metal worker and was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a union member in Des Moines and a member of Clinton United Methodist Church, Clinton Senior Center, Golden Valley Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He is survived by his wife, Wilma; a son, David of Clinton; two daughters, Linda Hall of Manhattan, Kan., and Christy Brown of Des Moines; his mother, Pearl McFarlin of Winterset; three sisters, Roberta Kay of Des Moines, Myrna Read of Maryville, Mo., and Marcia Gibson of Lorimor; two brothers, Bob of Des Moines and Richard of Ames; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
