THELMA FRITZ, Texas

Thelma Mae Hitchcock Fritz, 94, formerly of Winterset, died Oct. 31, 2006, in Sugar Land, Texas.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 11, at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset with Pastor Bob Epperson officiating. Burial will be at South Oak Grove Cemetery, Stuart, at a later date.

Thelma Fritz was born Dec. 14, 1911, in rural Gettysburg, S.D., to Albert “Arnie” and Eva Pearl (McGinnis) Glasscock and was a 1930 graduate of Stuart High School. On Dec. 14, 1933, she was united in marriage to Homer Newton Hitchcock. They farmed until moving to Radcliffe and founded the Hitchcock Truck Lines, where Thelma served as office manager. In 1988, and a resident of Winterset, she married LeRoy Fritz. In 2003, she moved to Sugar Land, Texas. Thelma was a member of the United Presbyterian Church, Iris Club, Topic Club and TOPS.

She was preceded in death by both husbands, Homer and LeRoy; a sister, Lena Pearl; and three brothers, Albert, Ira and Louis.

She is survived by one daughter, Judith A. Flowers; one son, Craig Hitchcock; a brother, Gilbert Glasscock of Atlanta, Ga.; and five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be directed to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America or to Amed Hospice.
