VERN KEY, Missouri

Vern Leroy Key, 69, of the Ivy Bend community near Stover, Mo., died Oct. 27, 2006, at his home.

Graveside services were held Tuesday, Oct. 31, at the Stover Cemetery with Chaplain Bart Larson officiating.

Vern Key was born Sept. 5, 1937, in Adams County, Iowa, to Loyde and Edna (Weese) Key. His marriage to Beverly Anderson Campos took place Aug. 23, 1999, in Versailles, Mo. Vern was a heavy equipment operator for 40 years, retiring from Schildberg Rock Quarry in Winterset. He had resided in the Ivy Bend area since 1999.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Harry Key; a sister, Minnie Ellen Freemyer; and one granddaughter.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly, of Ivy Bend; five daughters, Margo Camp of Ivy Bend, Mo., Marlene Key of Council Bluffs, Teresa Bowen of Maryville, Mo., Sheila Matheny of Bedford and Verna Moore of Independence, Mo.; two sons, Jeff Key and Ivan Key, both of Bedford; six brothers, Don Key of Winter Haven, Fla., Marvin Key of Raymond, Louis Key of Mount Ayr, Jerry Key of Blockton, Albert “Gene” Key of Lenox and Harold Key of Wilbur, Wash.; a sister, Rose Emma Owen of Des Moines; and 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Missouri River Hospice in Jefferson City, Mo.

Arrangements were handled by Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Stover, Mo.
