Ida Oliver, 89, died Nov. 6, 2006, at Winterset Care Center South.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 9, at the Congregational Church of Onawa with the Rev. John Noer officiating. Visitation will be held from 5–8 p.m. today (Wednesday, Nov. 8) at Collins Oak Park Chapel in Winterset, with the family present from 6–8 p.m. Visitation also will be held one hour prior to the service time at the Congregational Church of Onawa. Burial will be at Onawa Cemetery.
Ida Oliver was born Oct. 15, 1917, in DeWitt, Neb., to William M. and Kathryn Elisa (Mahloch) Buss. Her family moved from DeWitt to Onawa, where she was a 1935 graduate of Onawa High School and lived for most of her life. She had been a resident of Winterset since 1996. Her marriage to Willard S. Oliver took place May 29, 1940, in Leeds. Ida had been a realtor and an insurance agent. She also worked as a tax preparer. She had been very active with Boy Scouts and the Red Cross swimming program at the Onawa pool and was a member of the Congregational Church of Onawa.
She was preceded in death by her husband; two brothers, Herbert Buss and Melvin Buss; and two sisters, Rose Pavlovich and Pearl Timms.
She is survived by one son, Jerrold B. Oliver of Winterset; two brothers, Martin Buss of Mapleton and Otto Buss of Oregon; and three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Winterset Care Center South Activity Fund.
