PHYLLIS YOUNG, Des Moines

Phyllis Mona Young, 93, formerly of St. Charles, died at Fountain West Care Center Nov. 4, 2006, following a fall and resulting hip fracture in July.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Nov. 7, at Kale Funeral Home in Osceola with the Rev. Sandra Smith officiating. Burial was at St. Charles Cemetery.

Phyllis Young was born March 28, 1913, to Milton G. and Louise E. Patrick of Farmington and was a graduate of St. Marys High School. Her marriage to Forrest M. Young took place Sept. 10, 1932, in Des Moines. Phyllis was a member of the St. Charles Parish, St. Charles Parish Afternoon Circle and, following her husband’s death, the St. Charles Singles Club. In 2001, she moved to Beaverdale Estates in Des Moines where she was a member of the Red Hat Society.

She was preceded in death by her husband and three brothers, Vaughn, Roy and Donald Patrick.

She is survived by three daughters, Patricia M. Brandt of West Des Moines, Christine L. Day of Grinnell and Sheryl L. Mattern of Des Moines; one son, David E. Young of Des Moines; two brothers, James C. Patrick of Indianola and Dean R. Patrick of Walcott; and 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the St. Charles Parish Church or Beaverdale Estates Activity Fund.
