C. L. Headley, a Winterset resident for many years, died at his home here Thursday, April 28, 1955, after an extended period of failing health. He was 71 years of age.
Mr. Headley was a native of Pennsylvania where he was born at Ryerson Station on June 1, 1883, a son of Jacob and Amanda Headley. As a child he came to Iowa with his parents, and with the exception of a year in Colorado his home had been in Iowa since that time. His early life was spent in farming.
He was married Jan. 23, 1907, to Artie Whyte of Rogersville, Pa., who survives. He also leaves three daughters, Mrs. Bessie Walker of New Virginia, Mrs. Clarinda Allen of Red Oak, and Mrs. Iva Richardson of Chicago; four grandchildren; and a brother, Elmer Headley of Colorado.
Funeral services were held Saturday from the Winterset Christian church, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. Warren Hile. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
