Earl Ray Myers, rural Peru

Services for Earl Ray Myers, 54, rural Peru, who died May 9 at Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines, were held Monday, May 3 at the Kale Funeral Home in Truro with the Rev. Janne Clinton of New Virginia officiating. Burial was at the Peru Cemetery.

Born at Bagley, Iowa Sept. 26, 1930, he was the son of Vernon and Kitty Clark Myers. He attended Bagley schools and graduated from Jefferson High School.

On Oct. 2, 1973, he was married to June Bannick Rudolf at Davenport. He had farmed near Peru for about 30 years and was past county president and held other offices in the National Farmers Organization.

Survivors include his wife; his children, Kathy Whetstone and husband Dan of Ames, Dan of Saginaw, Mich., Jerry of Peru, Connie of Des Moines and Kelly of Winterset; stepchildren, Cindy Patterson and husband Dan of Truro, Brenda Brown and husband Rob of Prole, Brian Rudolf and wife Karen of Patterson and Jannelle Rudolf at home; sisters, Opal Shipley of Carlisle and Mildred Zonona of Des Moines; a brother, Lester Myers of Morgan City, La.; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two granddaughters.
