St. Charles Special, October 11--
Albert Allen, who moved to the Fred Boren property in Hanley a few weeks ago was found lying unconscious on the floor in his home early Tuesday morning by a neighbor who had gone over for a bucket of water. Dr. I. K. Sayre was called immediately but he was past medical aid and died early Wednesday morning. It is stated his death was caused by apoplexy as he was known to have had two strokes previous to this time. He had one shoe off and apparently was stricken while going to bed.
Mr. Allen was about 66 years of age and lived alone excepting for a small five year old grandson who made his home with him. He is survived by eleven children, Mrs. James Perry, Mrs. Lawrence Osborne, daughters, and Clarence Allen, a son living in this vicinity, other members of his family being widely scattered. One brother C. N. Allen, and only surviving member of a family of eight children also lives east of town.
Funeral services were held at Elm Grove Friday afternoon in charge of the Rev. A. R. Weed, and he was laid to rest in the King cemetery beside his wife, who died about a year ago.
