Bud Cunningham, a young farmer living just east of the Elm Grove church committed suicide Friday, September 16th, by hanging himself at his home. He was an ex-service man and was badly gassed while in the service, and had been in poor health for several months. This is thought to have been the cause of him taking his life. He is survived by his wife, who was formerly Miss Marie Allen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Minas Allen. Funeral services were held at the Elm Grove church Sunday afternoon. Burial was in the Sayre cemetery.
MORTUARY
Forrest Loyd Cunningham son of Henry and Susie Cunningham was born in Patterson, June 3, 1895, and grew to manhood in that community, during the World war he joined the 20th Engineers, served overseas in France more than one year. In the latter part of his service he was wounded and gassed in battle, then several months of hospital attention, but never fully recovered from the effects of it.
Shortly after his discharge from the army he was married to Marie Allen in March 1920, and since then has lived in the Elm Grove neighborhood.
He passed away at his home September 16, 1932. He is survived by his beloved wife, three sisters, one brother, Mrs. Fern Walters, Blunt, South Dakota; Mrs. Allie Scott, Chicago; Mrs. Florence Johnson, Patterson and William of Des Moines. Lloyd's father and mother and three sisters preceded him in death. In his early years he was reared in the Christian faith and steadfastly believed in it to the end.
Funeral services were conducted at the Elm Grove church Sunday, September 18, at 2:00 p.m. by the Rev. A. R. Weed, pastor of West Star, Worthington churches. Burial was in Sayre cemetery.
