FRANCIS MURPHY DIES AT 86 YEARS

Retired Farmer Had Lived 62 Years in Madison County

Francis E. Murphy of Churdan, a resident of Madison county for 60 years, died last Wednesday, Oct. 21 at Green County Memorial Hospital in Jefferson. He was 86 years of age.

Mr. Murphy was born in Jasper county Jan. 21, 1878, a son of Daniel B. and Sarah Reed Murphy. He came to Madison county in 1902 and spent his active life here until 1962, when he moved to Green county. His life was spent in farming.

He was a member of the Christian church in Winterset.

Mr. Murphy was married at Patterson on Dec. 14, 1913 to Alma Oglesbee. Her death occurred in 1916.

He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Earnest Brown of Churdan; six grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and a brother, W. L. Murphy of York, Nebr.

Funeral services were held Friday from the Collins Funeral home in Winterset, conducted by the Rev. William E. Bowles, pastor of the First Christian church here. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
