A funeral service was held today at 1:30 p.m. at the Christian Church in Truro for Florence Fern Murphy, a lifetime resident of Truro who died Sunday, April 4 at Des Moines General Hospital. She was 89 years old.
Born in Laurens, Ia. on Feb. 9, 1893, she was the daughter of J. H. and Louie Bradshaw Farson.
On June 8, 1910 she married Boyd Murphy in Winterset. Mr. Murphy died in 1960.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sons, Howard and Lauril; and a brother, Frank.
Survivors include a son, Weldon Murphy of Racine, Wisconsin; daughter Helen Hiatt of Truro; 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Rev. Gayle Strickler of New Virginia officiated at the funeral service. Burial was in Hartman Cemetery, Truro.
