Services for Ethel S. Murphy, 72, rural Winterset, who died Nov. 5 at Pleasantville, were held Wednesday, Nov. 8, at the Collins Funeral Home with the Rev. Zona Lautt officiating. Burial was at the Winterset Cemetery.

Born in Adams County on Dec. 13, 1916, she was the daughter of Walter and Minnie Smith Seybold. She was married to Loyd D. Murphy on May 22, 1937 in Madison County.

Mrs. Murphy was a resident here since 1926 and was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the MAO, UMW, and Pythian Sisters.

Survivors include daughters, Bonnie Morrow of Lewis, Iowa and Judy Sparks of Pleasantville; a sister, Edith S. Brown of Corning; and four grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and a grandchild.
