Funeral Held For WILLIS S. SPRUNGER

Willis Sanford Sprunger, 68, of Winterset died Friday, December 1, 1978, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center, Des Moines.

Born January 15, 1910 in Wayne County, Ohio, son of Enoch and Edith Steiner Sprunger, he had lived in Madison County the past 43 years.

On February 23, 1935 in Winterset, he married Mable Shorb. A farmer until retiring in 1971, he was a member of the Early Chapel Church of Christ and the Sportsmen's Club.

Surviving are his wife Mable; sons, Willis C. of Earlham and David of Des Moines; daughters, Juanita Ross of Winterset and Janet Burns of Des Moines; and sister Evalena Troyer of Orrville, Ohio; and eleven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers.

Services were held Tuesday, December 5, at Collins Funeral Home. Burial was made at Eppard Cemetery near Pitzer in Jackson Township with Rev. Charles Updike officiating.

Willis Sanford Sprunger was born January 15, 1910 in Wayne County, Ohio to Enoch and Edith Steiner Sprunger. He passed away December 1 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

On February 28, 1935, he was married to Mable Shorb. They became the parents of four children: Willis C. of Earlham, David of Des Moines, Juanita Ross of Winterset and Janet Burns of Des Moines.

Willis was a resident of Madison county for about 43 years and farmed until his retirement in 1971. He was a member of Early Chapel Christian Church (Disciples). He belonged to the Sportsmen’s Club.

Surviving him besides his wife and children is a sister, Evalena Troyer of Orrville, Ohio, and 11 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 5, at the Collins Funeral Home in Winterset. Rev. Charles Updike conducted the service. Interment was in the Jackson Township cemetery near Pitzer in Madison county.
