MABLE M. SPRUNGER, Winterset

Mable Maurine Sprunger, 83, of Winterset died of cancer May 31, 1999, at her home.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 4, at Ochiltree Funeral Service in Winterset with the Rev. Les Borsay officiating. Burial will take place Saturday, June 5, at Eppard Cemetery near Pitzer in Jackson Township, Madison County.

Mable Sprunger was born April 4, 1916, in Madison County to Franklin and Elsie (Ford) Shorb. She attended Earlham Community School, graduating from Earlham High School in 1934. She married Willis S. Sprunger on Feb. 28, 1935, in Winterset. Mable was a homemaker and a member of Early Chapel Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son and one infant sister.

She is survived by two daughters, Juanita Ross (husband David) of Winterset and Janet Burns (husband Dennis) of Des Moines; one son, David Sprunger (special friend Pat Piper) of Des Moines; a daughter-in-law, Bernice Sprunger of Orovada, Nev.; one sister, Maxine Morris (husband George) of Winterset; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.
