Jack Sayre, 49, of Van Meter died of a heart attack Sept. 26, 1999, at Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 30, at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Urbandale. Burial will be at Glendale Cemetery in Des Moines.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 29, at Caldwell-Raddatz Hickman Chapel in Urbandale, with the family also present at that time. A wake service will be held at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Jack Sayre was born April 21, 1950, to Roger and Beryl (Reid) Sayre of Chicago, Ill. He grew up in Flossmoor, Ill., and graduated from the University of Illinois. He moved to Urbandale in 1987 from Glen Ellyn, Ill., then moved to Van Meter a few months ago. Jack was the owner of Winterset Auto. He also was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church in Urbandale and the Winterset Optimist Club.

He was preceded in death by his mother.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Sayre of Van Meter; a son, Sean Sayre of Van Meter; a daughter, Kristen Sayre, also of Van Meter; his father and stepmother, Roger and Alice Rose Sayre of Atlanta, Ga.; four brothers, Reid and Ed Sayre, both of Raleigh, N.C., Roger of Joliet, Ill., and Bill of Dyer, Ind.; and two sisters, Jean DeMart of Atlanta and Barbara Grady of Tinley Park, Ill.
