Wednesday, September 1, 1999Rex R. Shambaugh, 84, of Van Meter died of respiratory ailment Aug. 31, 1999, at Fountain West Health Center in West Des Moines.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 2, at the Van Meter United Methodist Church. Burial will be at Union Chapel Cemetery near Van Meter. Visitation will be held Thursday at the church from 10 a.m. until service time.
Rex Shambaugh was born Sept. 15, 1914, to Lloyd and Bessie Shambaugh. He married Anna Lee Burger in 1937 in Boone. A retired farmer, Rex lived most of his life in the Van Meter area. He was a member of the Van Meter United Methodist church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a son and a daughter.
He is survived by a son, Ronald Wayne Shambaugh of Mingo; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Van Meter United Methodist Church.
Funeral arrangements were handled by Fisher Funeral Home in Van Meter.
