Ralph D. Spencer, 81, of Ankeny died of heart failure Jan. 30, 2000, a Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines.
Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. Thursday, Feb. 3, at Brooks Funeral Care in Clive. A private burial will take place at a later date at Wallace Cemetery in Wick.
Ralph Spencer was born July 7, 1918, to Tommy and Bradie (Stoneman) Spencer of Peru. He married Virginia Diers on July 1, 1942. While serving in the U.S. Army during World War II, he was stationed in Australia. Ralph was employed as a truck driver for Sellner Oil Company in Johnston for over 20 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
He is survived by his wife; two sons, Jim Spencer of Madrid and Steve Spencer of Iowa City; two daughters, Lynda Ostedgaard and Julie Spencer, both of Iowa City; a brother, Robert Spencer of Peru; 11 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.
