LOIS E. SPENCER, Dexter

Services for Lois E. Spencer, 82, Dexter, who died Tuesday morning at Madison County Memorial Hospital, will be held Friday, Mar. 2 at 10:30 a.m. at the Dexter United Methodist Church with the Rev. Robert Farr officiating. Burial will be at the Winterset Cemetery.

Born near Winterset Sept. 14, 1901, she was the daughter of Simeon W. and Bertha Oldham Henkle. She graduated from Earlham High School in 1921 and married Herbert R. Spencer on Jan. 3, 1923.

Survivors include a sister, Mabel Piatt of Dexter; a son-in-law, Marrett Edwards of Truro; a daughter, Wilma Heyn of Monument, Colo; a son, Wendell Spencer of Topeka, Kan.; 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Esther M. Edwards; her husband, and brothers, Harry and John Henkle.

Lois E. Spencer, daughter of Simeon W. and Bertha Oldham Henkle, was born September 14, 1901 near Winterset, Iowa. She passed away February 28, 1984 at the Madison County Hospital in Winterset.

Lois graduated from Earlham High School in 1921 and was united in marriage to Herbert R. Spencer on January 3, 1923. She lived all her life in Madison and Dallas counties.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Herbert, a daughter, Esther M. Edwards; her parents and two brothers, Harry and John Henkle.

She is survived by a daughter, Wilma Heyn, of Monument, Colorado; a son, Wendell Spencer, of Topeka, Kansas; her sister, Mabel Piatt, of Dexter; a son-in-law, Marrett Edwards, of Truro; 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted March 2, 1984 at the Dexter United Methodist Church with the Rev. Robert Farr officiating. Robert Lawson provided organ music. Pallbearers were Lee Spencer, Wilbur Henkle, Robert Collins, Keith Piatt, Elmer Coffman and Charles Walston. Interment was in Winterset Cemetery, Winterset, Iowa.
