Ethelyn Spencer, 90, of Winterset died of a heart ailment Dec. 20, 2002, at Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset.
Funeral services were held Monday, Dec. 23, at Macksburg United Methodist Church with Pastor Bill Branson officiating. Burial was at Moon Cemetery, Grand River Township, Madison County.
Ethelyn Spencer was born Jan. 11, 1912, in Anita to Cyrus Dana and Laura Matilda (Dorsey) Lattig. On May 21, 1932, she married George Spencer. Ethelyn, a resident of Madison County for most of her life, had been a nurse's aide and dietician at a local care center. She was a member of the Good Neighbor Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Joyce Givan, a brother, Delmar Lattig; and a sister, Clarice Claypool.
She is survived by five sons, Harold Spencer of Red Oak, Bill Spencer of Lorimor, Jerry Spencer and George Spencer, both of Winterset, and Gary Spencer of Macksburg; three daughters, Marlene Saxton and Deloris Losee, both of Winterset, and Kathy Trump of Lake Ozark, Mo.; a brother, Cy Lattig of Macksburg; three sisters, Lucy Kirkland and Harriet Garrett, both of Macksburg, and Isabel Duff of Winterset; 28 grandchildren; 59 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements were handled by Collins Oak Park Chapel in Winterset.
