John H. Musselman

John Hiram Musselman was born in Page county, Virginia, Jan. 5, 1845. Coming to manhood he was united in marriage with Nancy Armstrong in 1866. To this union was born three children. He was married a second time to Clara Trotter in the 70’s. To this union were born three children. On April 10, 1883 he was united in marriage to Frances Young. To this union were born seven children, three having passed on; two in infancy and Harrison in 1918. Those left to mourn his going are his widow, three sons; Elmer, Rufus and Ralph of Truro and Mrs. Daisy Barnes of Litchfield, Minn., three sons and two daughters by the former unions and twelve grandchildren.

Mr. Musselman enlisted in the 60’s in the defense of his country and served faithfully. He was captured and held prisoner of war by the Confederates and confined at Belle Isle, Libby and Andersonville prisons. He loved the flag and tried to live the patriotism it called for.

He was converted many years ago and loved to take part in revival services. He was a help and inspiration in the local movements for good. Death came after a few weeks illness on March 16, 1924. Funeral services were held in the M. E. church March 19th, conducted by Rev. Matthews. Interment was made in the Young cemetery.
