MRS. MARY McNAMARA Obituary

Mary McNamara, widow of Martin McNamara, died at her home in Union township, Wednesday, June 25th, 1913, at the age of seventy eight years.

She was born in Ireland and came to this country at the age of sixteen. Three years later, she was married in Des Moines to Martin McNamara, who died nine years ago. About forty three years ago, she and her husband removed to Madison county, where they both spent their remaining days. Her maiden name was Mary Linnane, and she was the last of a family of six.

She is survived by five children, Michael, James, John and Mary, all of Madison county and Mrs. Hugh Rogers of New Virginia, Iowa.

The funeral service was held last Friday at St. Patrick's church, conducted by Rev. Father Churchill of Winterset. He was assisted by Rev. Father White of Malloy and Rev. Father Mulvihill of Des Moines, cousins of the deceased.

In February, 1909, Mrs. McNamara fell and broke her hip, since which time she has been bedfast, and under the constant care of her daughter, Mary. In her death, the community in which she lived, loses one of the kind hearted, generous and loving characters of the old country, whose influence for good has been a silent but powerful factor for good homes and good citizenship.
