MRS. MARION MORRIS DIES AT 93 YEARS

Mrs. Marion Morris, formerly of near Winterset, died Feb. 12 at Des Moines at the age of 93 years. She was the mother of Lewis E. Morris of Earlham.

Born at Clive, Mrs. Morris lived most of her life in Polk County. However, she and her husband farmed in Lincoln township of Madison county from 1903 to 1911. Her husband Lewis Morris Sr. was a widely known Grimes farmer for many years, and served as principal of schools in West Des Moines. His death occurred in 1950.

Known as "the Delphinium lady", she was a recognized authority on tuberous begonias, receiving a certificate of merit in 1952 for service to horticulture by the Iowa Horticultural society. She was a nationally accredited flower show judge.

She was the second president of the Polk County Farm Bureau women, president of the Polk county Federation of Women's clubs, advisor to the conservation division of the Federated Garden clubs of Iowa, former regent of the Abigail Adams, chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and a member of the Daughters of American Colonists.

As a young woman she taught school two years in rural Polk county and eight years in the Des Moines schools.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Marion Kochheiser of Ankeny; four sons, Cyrus Morris of Detroit, Mich., Donald Morris of Promise City, Lewis E. Morris of Earlham, and William Morris of Boulder, Colo.; 13 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and a brother, William G. Stevenson of Des Moines.

Funeral services were held Feb. 15 from the Presbyterian church in Grimes, with burial in the Waukee cemetery.
