Jerry Francis Waltz, 68, of Winterset died Oct. 28, 2006, at Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 2, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Winterset with Father Chris Hartshorn officiating. Visitation will be held at Collins Oak Park Chapel in Winterset from noon to 8 p.m. today (Wednesday, Nov. 1), with the family present from 5–8 p.m. A vigil will be held at 6 p.m.
Jerry Waltz was born March 20, 1938, in Madison County to Francis August and Helen Evelyn (Duncan) Waltz and was a 1956 graduate of Winterset High School. His marriage to Evalee Thompson took place Aug. 11, 1962, in LeMars. A lifetime resident of Madison County, Jerry farmed and worked as a yard manager for Pioneer Lumber Company in Ankeny. He was a member of the Madison County Coon Hunters Association, several bowling leagues, and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Winterset.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Alice Reed; and a half brother, Grover Alexander.
He is survived by his wife, Evalee, of Winterset; two daughters, Sharon Godwin of Sioux City and Lori Carpenter of Waukee; one son, Rob Waltz of Winterset; two brothers, Larry Waltz of Colorado and Tom Waltz of Adel; two sisters, Caroline Grose of Macksburg and Virginia Shawd of Woodward; and eight grandchildren.
