William McRobert Thomson, who had been ill during the past two weeks, died at the Methodist hospital in Des Moines at the age of 66 years. Mr. Thomson became ill with an acute attack of appendicitis on Wednesday, April 16th. He was taken to the Methodist hospital in Des Moines, and was operated upon. It was stated that he was recovering nicely when peritonitis developed and his condition quickly became critical.
Mr. Thomson spent the greater share of his life in this county. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Thomson and was born in Jackson township, on March 4, 1874. The Thomsons had emigrated to this county in 1869. In 1887, when he was thirteen years of age, the parents moved on westward, to Nebraska. After eight years, they went to Murray county, Minnesota, and in 1906 returned to Madison county.
The marriage of Mr. Thomson and Miss Pearl Mildred Rash took place June 8, 1910, and they were the parents of six children: Donald Glenn, Kenneth Earle, Dorothy Esther, Marjorie Clara, Hugh Clair, and an infant, who died at birth. He leaves his widow and five children, and two brothers and two sisters: Leonard T. Thomson, of Shannon City; Ray S., of Sandstone, Minnesota; Mrs. Bessie T. Kench, of Winterset, and Mrs. Nan B. Surratt, of Springfield, Illinois.
Mr. Thomson was an active member of the United Presbyterian church at Pitzer, and the Rev. W. C. Porter, of Winterset, pastor of that church, conducted the funeral services at Tidrick's funeral home, Monday, April 28th, at 2 o'clock, and burial was made in the Stringtown cemetery. Rev. A. R. Weed assisted with the burial services.

William McRobert Thomson was born in Jackson township, Madison county, Iowa, on March 4, 1874, and died at the Methodist hospital in Des Moines, April 25, 1930, aged 56 years.
He was the son of Hugh and Cynthia Bard Thomson, who were emigrants to Iowa in 1869. In 1887, when William was 13 years of age, the parents moved on westward to Nebraska. After eight years there, they went to Murray county, Minnesota, and in 1906, returned to Madison county.
On June 8, 1910, Mr. Thomson married Miss Pearl Mildred Rash. God gave them six children: Donald Glenn, Kenneth Earle, Dorothy Esther, Marjorie Clara, Hugh Clair, and an infant, who died at birth. Besides his widow and these surviving children, he has two brothers, Leonard T. Thomson, of Shannon City, and Roy S. Thomson of Sandstone, Minnesota, and two sisters, Mrs. Bessie T. Kench, of Winterset, and Mrs. Nan B. Sorratt, of Springfield, Illinois.
In early youth Mr. Thomson professed his faith in Christ, and united with the Church of the Living God. Through the rich grace of his Saviour, he lived the life he professed. He was a good man, a patriotic citizen, a worth father, an exemplary follower of Jesus. He was honored of men and God, serving in both humble public office and the eldership of the church. The family, the community, and the church are immeasurably poorer through the loss of this man.
