Death of Palmer Rumford

Word has been received here of the death of Palmer Rumford, at his home in Eugene, Oregon. Mr. Rumford, for many years owned and operated a farm in Madison county, but for the last 22 years has resided in Oregon.

The deceased, who was 70 years of age, died at his home, Friday night, July 24th, following a cerebral hemorrhage. He had lived in Eugene seven years, and was a member of the Presbyterian church. The Rumfords, when they resided here, owned at one time, the farm now owned by Mrs. P. M. McNamara, and later, the L. V. Painter farm, northeast of Winterset. When they lived in Winterset, they occupied a residence on the lot on which W. W. Gentry now resides.

He is survived by his widow; three sons, Charles S. Rumford of Princeton, Kansas; Lawrence of McGlynn, Oregon; Dale of Eugene; three daughters, Mrs. H. D. Hill of Coin, Iowa; Mrs. Golda Huggins of Medford, Oregon, Mrs. J. M. Spurgin of Eugene, 14 grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and one brother, Lewis Rumford of Kansas.

Funeral services and burial was made at Eugene.
