Mrs. Jas. E. Williams Dies

Mrs. James E. Williams, who had been ill, at the Winterset hospital for the past month, died here early Tuesday morning, November 17th, at the age of 69 years. Mrs. Williams was the former Miss Lenora Leech, and had always made her home in Madison county.

She was born in Douglas township, but when she was a child her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Leech moved to Winterset, and here she resided with them until her marriage to Mr. Williams in 1905. They lived in Jackson township 24 years, and two years ago, bought the farm known as the Ringenberg place on Highway No. 169 one half mile north of Winterset. This has since been their home.

Mrs. Leech was a member of the Presbyterian church, the Eastern Star lodge and the Columbia club.

She is survived by her husband and two sisters, Mrs. Ollie Seevers of Jackson township, and Mrs. Ella Garrett of Fremont, Nebraska.

The funeral is being held at the Presbyterian church this afternoon at two o’clock. The Reverend W. C. Porter will have charge of the services, and Professor W. C. Hilmer of Indianola, will preach the sermon. He will be assisted by the Rev. H. L. Olmstead.

Mrs. James E. Williams

Lenora Leech, daughter of John and Margaret Shaffer Leech was born in Douglas township, Madison county, Iowa, on March 3, 1862. She passed beyond November 17, 1931, at the Winterset hospital aged 69 years, 7 months and 14 days.

In early girlhood she moved with her parents to Winterset where she lived until her marriage to James E. Williams, September 14, 1905. They established their home in Jackson township and remained there twenty-four years. Two and a half years ago they moved to the present home one mile north of Winterset.

In early girlhood she united with the Presbyterian church of Winterset and was faithful to her Lord to the day of her death. She was also a member of the Eastern Star lodge and the Columbia club.

She was a patient sufferer in her last illness of four weeks. She heard God’s call and willingly answered. She will long be remembered as a faithful wife, a kindly neighbor and a steadfast friend.

She leaves her devoted husband, and two sisters: Mrs. Ollie Seevers of Jackson township and Mrs. Ella Garret of Fremont, Nebraska. Also one niece and one nephew, together with a host of friends, mourn her departure.

The funeral will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock in the Presbyterian church. The service will be in charge of Rev. W. C. Porter. The Reverend Professor W. C. Hilmer of Indianola will preach. Reverend H. L. Olmstead will also assist.
