Hazen A. Morford, Winterset

Services for Hazen A. Morford, 84, Winterset, who died Jan. 22 at Bethesda Care Center where he resided were held Friday, Jan. 25 at the Penn Center United Methodist Church with the Rev. Robert Farr officiating. Burial was at the Penn Center Cemetery.

Born June 1, 1900 in rural Dexter, he was the son of John and Della Allen Morford. On Dec. 24, 1922, he was married to Dorothy G. Wight near Winterset. They made their home on a farm near Earlham until August of 1981.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Marvin of West Des Moines; a daughter, Mrs. LaVere McCleary of rural Dexter; six grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, six sisters, and a brother.

Hazen Allen Morford, son of John Jasper Morford and Della (Allen) Morford was born in rural Dexter, Penn Township, Iowa on June 1, 1900. He passed away at Bethesda Care Center in Winterset, Iowa on January 22, 1985.

On December 24, 1922 he was united in marriage to Dorothy G. Wight near Winterset, Iowa. They made their home on a farm near Earlham, Iowa until August of 1981 when ill health caused them to move to Bethesda Care Center, Winterset, Iowa.

To this union was born two children: Marcella (Mrs. LaVere McCleary) of rural Dexter, Iowa and Marvin of West Des Moines, Iowa.

Hazen was preceded in death by his parents, six sisters and one brother. Those surviving besides his wife Dorothy are daughter and son-in-law, son and daughter-in-law, six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many friends.

Reverend Robert Farr officiated at the funeral service on January 25, 1985 at Penn Center United Methodist Church. Nadine Shepherd provided organ music. Pallbearers were Philip McCleary, Frank Hoskins, David Koch, Bradley Morford, Gregory Morford and Jack Day.
