CLYDE CROSSLEY Died Wednesday

Clyde C. Crossley, 68-year-old resident of Winterset, died at the Madison county Memorial hospital, in Winterset, Wednesday morning, July 11, 1956 after an extended illness. Mr. Crossley, who underwent surgery for a malignancy of the throat several years ago, had lived on a farm in Scott township, near Peru, until last September, when they rented an apartment of a brother, John I. Crossley, of Winterset.

He had been bedfast, since last September, and had been critically ill the past few weeks; he wass taken to the local hospital Tuesday.

A son of John W. and Cynthia Jane Crossley, he was born in Crawford township March 24th, 1888, and resided there until his marriage to Miss Mardie Lowe of Winterset, September 17, 1913. Since then Mr. Crossley engaged in farming. and they have lived either in Winterset, or this county with the exception of several years, on a farm near Harrisonville, Missouri.

His widow and their one daughter, Mary Hern, of Winterset survive him. He also leaves a sister and two brothers: Mrs. Bertha Miles, John I. Crossley of Winterset and James J. Crossley of Portland, Oregon. His parents and two sisters preceded him in death. He also leaves a number of nieces and nephews.

His funeral services will be held Friday afternoon, July 13th, at 2:30 p.m. at the Richards funeral home, and burial will be in the Winterset Cemetery. He was a member of the Presbyterian church, and the Rev. George DeF. Fisher, pastor, will conduct the services.
