Funeral services for former Madison County resident Raymond W. Algoe, who died March 25, 1981, at Washington, Iowa, were held March 28 at Collins Funeral Home in Winterset with Reverend Charles Updike officiating.
Mr. Algoe was born Aug. 30, 1915, the son of David and Emma Algoe in Scott township near Peru, Iowa.
He was married April 5, 1936, to Faye Lightner. They were the parents of four children.
The family lived in Scott township until 1955 when they moved to Laporte, Minn., where he operated a grocery store for 10 years. He then worked as a carpenter in Minnesota before moving to New London, Iowa, where he worked as a carpenter and then a factory worker at Vaga Industries at Mount Pleasant, Iowa, until failing health forced him to retire. He then moved to Akeley, Minn., and settled along 10th Crow Wing Lake where he lived at the time of his death.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his son Ray. He is survived by his wife Faye, his daughters, Mrs. Lyle (Kathy) Clark of Columbus City, Iowa and Mrs. Richard (Mary) Sheets of Rochester, Minn.; his son, David Algoe of St. Cloud, Minn.; nine grandchildren; one brother, John Algoe of Peru; and four sisters, Goldie Lightner and Pearl Tyer of Winterset, Elsie Satterlee of Bentonville, Ark., and Ruby Gray of Crestline, Calif.
Burial was made at Winterset Cemetery.
