James Milo Moorhead, rural Winterset

Services for James Milo Moorhead, rural Winterset, who died Monday, April 22, at Veterans Hospital in Des Moines, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 25 at the Collins Funeral Home with the Rev. Byron Ayers officiating.

Full military graveside services will be held at the Winterset Cemetery.

Born at Williston, N.D. on July 20, 1923, he was the son of Milo and Mabel Liechey Moorhead. At the age of 3, his mother died and he was raised by his aunt and uncle, Blanche and Clarence Moorhead.

Mr. Moorhead was a veteran of the Army Air Force, a member of the Webster Methodist Church, the VFW and the Eighth Air Force Historical Society.

A self-employed antique dealer, he had been a resident of this area for 50 years. On Feb. 27, 1944 he was married to Rose Ellen Simmons at Dalhart, Texas.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Larry of Spirit Lake; and a grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents.
